Ergonomics
When every care
has been taken in producing the perfect office environment things
can still go wrong. Staff take sick leave for back problems aggravated
by being at work. Workstations can pass the EC regulations but still
cause postural problems. Hot desking might not be regarded as quite
so hot by the staff required to use it. Sitting comfortably is not
necessarily sitting correctly, but often staff education is the
missing link for the workstation problem.
Physioworks
chartered physiotherapists understand the causes of pain, and can
provide solutions which meet the needs of the worker, the HR department
and the company. Physioworks Ergonomics has been developed through
treating our clients at the clinic, identifying workplace issues,
and following this up with an assessment at the workstation. This
aids symptom resolution significantly, as postural and work habits
are a major cause of back and neck pain.
Physioworks
Ergonomics Services include:
Specialist
ergonomic assessments for workers with pain
Office-wide ergonomic consultations

Typical solutions
to ergonomic problems will have two elements - a minor change to
the positioning of a workstation, but more major changes in the
client's use of that workstation. These may include postural habit
changing techniques and education. Like training for a marathon
- you don't run 26 miles on your first session - learning to sit
well is a physical challenge that the body has to adapt to. Learning
to do so requires commitment and sometimes specialist advice.
